There is a lot that will be new at Inter Miami this year, as the franchise announced yesterday the name for its brand new, state of the art facility near Miami International Airport.
Just what is the new name? It will be called Nu Stadium, and it will be the center piece of a major sports and entertainment development just down the street from Miami International.
Combing hotels, restaurants, retail, and of course a new 25,000-seat soccer-specific venue now named Nu Stadium, Miami Freedom Park will keep Miami on the map when it comes to soccer destinations in North America. Coming off an MLS Cup victory, Inter Miami has already established the city as one of the most valuable franchises in all of MLS, and Nu Stadium looks to further help Inter Miami become a major destination for soccer fans and tourists alike.
Miami Freedom Park is not your average multi-use development. Beyond the typical entertainment offerings, Miami Freedom Park is strategically connected to nearly all modes of transportation in and around Miami, a major tourist destination in North America. The complex will be connected to Miami International via the MIA Mover, an automated people mover that brings all passengers to the airport for free with just one stop. Freedom Park is also connected to the Miami Airport Station, the terminus for the above-ground subway called Metrorail, the terminus for the commuter rail named Tri-Rail, and home to the MIA Mover, the county’s Metrobus, Greyhound, and the airport’s Rental Car Center.
Fans will quite literally be able to access all of South Florida and beyond from the adjacent Miami Airport Station, making Nu Stadium one of the most transit-accessible stadiums in the U.S.
As Inter Miami comes off that championship season, a new stadium looks to bring a rising team into the future.
